I was born and lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina until 1987, when, because of the unstable political situation, I moved with my wife-to-be, to Santa Barbara, California. I lived there for 15 years, working as a finish carpenter and contractor, something I really loved doing. After many years of fixing, building and remodeling other people's houses, it became my dream to create my own place, and a home-based business started to form.
While living in Santa Barbara, we took beach vacations, with my wife and children, along the Riviera Nayarit, on the Pacific coast of Mexico. One afternoon we met a lady who asked us to go for a ride with her to Sayulita. It was the first time I went into that charming town. I had an instant connection, and the feeling that Sayulita was the place for us to materialize our dreams. Asking around I found a small house two blocks from the main beach, and two blocks from the town square. It was a great location and I bought the house the following day!
In 2002 I finally moved to Sayulita with my children. The very next day people were knocking at my door, asking me to become their contractor and to be in charge of building their houses. Speaking both English and Spanish fluently, and possessing knowledge about construction with American standards of quality and craftsmanship, made me very sought after in the region. After I had finished the construction of my casitas, I added another unit, the 2.5 bedroom suite, situated above my own house in the front part of the property.
Come here to relax, enjoy the private and peaceful garden. The beautiful pond was added for the tranquil mood it creates to our vacation renters. After some time, various residents donated their pet turtles they no longer could take care of. By now, the turtle family has grown quite large! Casitas Tortugas are named after these unique creatures, as it means the house of turtles.
“Casitas Tortugas” is and has been a way of proving to myself that it's possible to fulfill our dreams, to change, to overcome fears, to trust ourselves, to widen our vision and to expand our mental and physical borders.
Over the years I have met so many wonderful guests, who have enjoyed the tranquility and simplicity here. It makes me happy to share my casitas and the Sayulita lifestyle with all of my guests.
